Cougar Creek's House of Horrors stands as British Columbia’s ultimate haunted destination. This full-scale Halloween experience features multiple world-class haunted houses, complete with highly immersive sets and professional scare-actors dedicated to providing genuine thrills.
Beyond the spine-chilling attractions, the venue offers a complete evening out, including:
Live Entertainment: Dandy of The Dead on stage most nights!
Dining & Refreshments: On-site food and drink options.
Retail: A themed gift shop to commemorate your visit.
Whether you are a veteran horror fan or looking for your first fright, Cougar Creek delivers an unforgettable atmosphere where fear truly comes to life. We're open on select nights throughout the fall season.
Yes, absolutely! Cougar Creek's House of Horrors prides itself on constantly improving and adding new elements to ensure it is never the same from one year to the next. The Scare Team is always working to enhance the experience by adding new characters, costumes, animatronics, and sound effects inside the haunted houses. Stage performers are often different nightly and common areas get constant redesigns. There's always something new to see and experience every year!
You can upgrade your existing tickets by clicking on the link in your original ticket confirmation email. You will need to have your order number ready to access your account; once your order is verified, the available upgrade options will appear, and you can select and purchase the Speedpass or VIP upgrade that best suits your needs.
For an extra fee, you can purchase the TOUCH OF FEAR experience and get a complimentary glowing custom lanyard to put around your neck. ACTORS WILL TOUCH! The glowing lanyard indicates that you have purchased the TOUCH OF FEAR add-on and want to be touched. No, YOU CANNOT TOUCH THE ACTORS. Touching our actors or employees will result in immediate removal from the event and no refund. Do not buy the TOUCH OF FEAR add-on if you do not like to be touched. PLEASE NOTE: If you no longer want to participate in the TOUCH OF FEAR experience, take off your glowing lanyard and put in your pocket or purse.
While there are no age restrictions, due to elements of horror and graphic scenes, we recommend the Scary Show for ages 14 and up. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by a person aged 18 years or older.
Horrors Jr. on weekends with no actors is considered appropriate for ages 13 and under (although Horrors Jr. still contains graphic scenes). For those that insist on bringing younger children to the scary show, ages 5 and under are free (we highly recommend bringing younger children to Horrors Jr. in the daytime instead with no actors!). For Horrors Jr., ages 3 and under are free.
Usually maximum groups size is 8 people; however, to ensure the best experience and flow through the haunt, group sizes are managed by staff. You will generally be grouped with your own party, but because it is a walk-through attraction, your group may be combined with others if necessary to maintain consistent spacing and flow throughout the houses.
Lineups at Cougar Creek's House of Horrors can indeed become quite long on peak nights, particularly as the season progresses toward Halloween.
Peak Demand: Evenings closer to October 31st are historically the busiest, which can lead to significant wait times for those with standard general admission tickets.
Efficiency: To help manage the volume, the venue offers Speedpass and VIP Speedpass options, which are specifically designed to significantly reduce your wait time compared to the standard general admission line.
Planning: Purchasing your tickets online in advance is the best way to secure your entry, but you should still be prepared for potential wait times unless you choose an expedited entry option such as Speedpass or VIP
Yes, the haunted houses at Cougar Creek's House of Horrors are designed to be quite dark to heighten the sense of fear and suspense. The environment uses low lighting, shadows, and sometimes complete darkness—especially during specialized events like "Whisper Night"—to make the experience more intense and immersive.
Beyond the five main haunted houses, Cougar Creek's House of Horrors features several other elements designed to round out your experience:
Nightly Stage Shows: The event hosts live entertainment on stage, most nights featuring the incredible Dandy of the Dead, providing a break from the haunts and adding to the festive atmosphere.
Concession Area: There is a dedicated area where you can purchase drinks and treats to enjoy while you take a breather or wait for your group.
Photo Opportunities: There are various themed spots throughout the grounds perfect for taking memorable photos of your night.
Boutique: The event features an on-site gift boutique where you can browse and purchase event-themed merchandise.
The experience at Cougar Creek's House of Horrors is designed as a structured walk-through tour rather than a free-roaming maze. While the layout includes a labyrinth of hallways and rooms intended to be disorienting, you are guided through the path sequentially. Because the experience is managed by staff, you will not get lost; you will simply move from one room to the next until you reach the end of the attraction.
No, customers cannot wear costumes inside. This is for the safety of our actors and patrons. Other garment rules include:
No Masks or Weapons: Please do not wear masks or bring any costume props that could be mistaken for weapons.
Footwear: Footwear should be comfortable enough to walk around in for an extended period of time. NO HIGH HEELS!
Mobility: Keep in mind that you will be walking through a haunted attraction, so choose an outfit that allows for easy movement but isn't so loose it poses a tripping or snagging hazard. Also we use stage props such as fake blood, so wearing your $1000 ball gown is not recommended due to these materials occasionally marking or staining clothing.
Yes, Cougar Creek's House of Horrors remains open during rainy weather. Because the majority of the attraction experience takes place inside the haunted houses, the event is able to proceed regardless of rain. However, since some parts of the queuing and common areas are outdoors, it is recommended to dress appropriately for the weather if rain is in the forecast.
Yes, the venue is designed to be wheelchair accessible, allowing guests to navigate the space and enjoy the attractions. While the paths through the haunted houses may include tight turns and uneven terrain typical of such environments, the layout accommodates wheelchairs. In certain areas staff may assist folks in wheelchairs to circumvent tougher terrain. If you have specific concerns or require assistance during your visit, it is recommended to speak with the on-site staff, who are prepared to help ensure you have a comfortable and safe experience.
Yes, strobe lights are used throughout the various haunted houses as part of the theatrical effects to disorient and heighten the intensity of the experience. Guests who are sensitive to flashing lights or have conditions that can be triggered by them should take this into consideration before entering.
The haunted attraction is not recommended for pregnant women. The environment is dark, includes uneven terrain, utilizes intense strobe lights, features startling jump scares, and incorporates loud, unpredictable noises—all of which could pose a risk or cause unnecessary physical stress during pregnancy. For your safety and comfort, it is advised to avoid participating in our haunted experience.
Yes, the event employs on-site security personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests, staff, and actors. They are present throughout the venue to monitor the grounds, assist with crowd management, and respond to any issues that may arise during operating hours. PLEASE NOTE: We video record all patrons in all areas of this event for the safety of our staff and other patrons. Video is live-monitored.
Yes, you can be removed from the event for a variety of reasons. The venue maintains a strict policy to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, actors, and staff. You may be asked to leave without a refund for behaviors such as:
· Touching Actors: Attempting to touch, harass, or provoke the performers in any way.
· Destructive Behavior: Damaging props, sets, or facility property.
· Intoxication: Displaying signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
· Disruptive Conduct: Engaging in fighting, using offensive language, or harassing other guests.
· Violating Rules: Failing to follow instructions provided by event staff or security personnel.
The staff prioritizes maintaining a secure and professional environment for everyone, and non-compliance with these standards will result in immediate removal from the premises with no refund.
No, smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the haunted attraction or in any of the queuing and common areas or on the property. This policy is in place to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for all guests, staff, and performers, and to prevent any interference with the theatrical effects like the fog and haze used throughout the event.
No, taking photos or recording videos inside the haunted houses is not permitted. This policy is in place for several reasons:
Safety: Flash photography can be extremely disorienting to both guests and the actors, increasing the risk of accidents or injuries, especially in dark, uneven environments.
Immersion: The use of cameras and phones can break the immersive experience for other guests who are trying to enjoy the atmosphere.
Actor Privacy: Performers in the houses have a right to privacy and should not be filmed without authorization.
While you are welcome to take photos in designated outdoor photo opportunity areas throughout the grounds, please keep your recording devices put away once you enter the haunted houses.
To ensure the safety of all guests, actors, and staff, as well as to protect the sets and props, you are prohibited from bringing the following items inside the haunted houses:
· Weapons or Look-alikes: Anything that could be mistaken for a weapon, including props that look like knives, guns, or other dangerous objects.
· Masks/ Costumes: No masks that obscure your face and no costumes
· Cameras and Recording Devices: Professional cameras, selfie sticks, or tripods are prohibited, and video recording is generally not allowed inside.
· Food and Beverages: No outside food or drinks are allowed at this event.
· Large Bags or Backpacks: It is generally recommended to leave large items in your vehicle or at home, as they can be cumbersome to carry through tight spaces and may pose a safety hazard. We are not responsible for lost or damaged items left on site while you travel through the attraction.
· Flashlights or Laser Pointers: These can interfere with the carefully controlled lighting effects and are not permitted.
If you are unsure about a specific item, it is best to leave it in your vehicle before entering the event. You are responsible for lost or damaged items that you bring to this event.
